Get Ready! Get Set! Go!

We are mixing it up! No more parent approved reading minutes to track. Instead we are going to have a variety of mini challenges. 

Current/Upcoming: 

  • April ~ National Poetry Month
    • Help needed with poetry stations during the school day the last week of April
  • May/June: Summer Reading focus/promote. Possible Book Swap at Family Fun Night in June.

 


Past:

  • September: Check out the Blast into Reading bulletin board in the school library. Focus this month is 'We Read Too, Can You Guess Who?'
  • Sept 17 - Oct 17: Look in your student's Tuesday packet for a Bookmark Challenge Flyer and bookmark. After your child has completed the 5 sections on the bookmark, they can turn it in for a drawing. Extra bookmarks are available in the school library. Bookmarks due October 17th.
  • Oct 23 - 26Scholastic Book Fair in the school library. Unable to make it? Order online (Oct 9 - Oct 29) and your books will be shipped for free to the school.
    • Winners from the Bookmark Challenge will be able to pick out one book during their class preview
  • Late October/November: Check out the Blast into Reading bulletin board in the school library. Focus this month is 'Choose Kind' based off of the book 'We Are All Wonders' by R.J. Palacio.
  • January - February: Book Bingo
    • In late January look for a Book Bingo flyer in your student's Tuesday packet! Extra copies will be available in the library or you can download a copy. Deadline for turning in the completed Bingo (any 5 spaces in a row) has been EXTENDED to March 2nd for a chance to win a Barnes & Noble gift card.
  • March 6th: We will be hosting our 1st Literacy Night...Camp Read S'more along with a Book Swap. Volunteers needed to help with activity tables.
