PTSA Volunteer Opportunities

TEAM Fairwood is looking for help. Many hands make light work.

Want to volunteer at school? Not sure how? Come to a volunteer orientation to learn about school volunteer rules, where to sign and where rooms are located. Get to meet the principal, Mrs. Hoyle too!

Want to volunteer at school? You need VIPS

ALL volunteers (new and returning) will need to complete an online volunteer application and disclosure form. If you want to volunteer in your child's classroom, or help with school and PTSA activities, you need to complete this application. If you are returning from last year, you can log in with the account you created last year. Click HERE for more information and link to the online application process.

Battle of the Books

 The "Battle of the Books" is a reading incentive program in elementary, middle school, and high schools across the country. Find out more about the district sponsored program HERE. Fairwood placed 3rd out of 26 schools this year!

Check out the Fairwood Battle of the Books blog for the 2018-19 list and some tips/hints.  Mrs. Keiser will help organize the groups.

In the fall, the school library will have all the Battle of the Books available to read. Through December any student can check out these books. Starting in January, only students participating in Battle of the Books will be able to check out these books.

Carnival Family Fun

Friday, September 28th at 6pm to 8pm in the school gym. The whole family is invited - Come join the fun! This is also a Spirit Day so wear your Charger Blue!

Fairwood PTSA is sponsoring this fabulous fun family event. Inflatable games, face painting, & more!

Hot dogs, popcorn, and popsicles will be for sale.

Blast into Reading ~ Book Bingo

Look in your student's Tuesday packet for a Book Bingo flyer! Extra copies will be available in the library or you can download a copy (K-2nd grade version3rd-6th grade version, Instructions). Deadline for turning in the completed Bingo is November 5th!

PTSA Art Docents & Helpers needed

Do you want to be one of the most popular parents in your child's class? Can you spare 2-3 hours a month? Become an Art Docent volunteer!! Training is scheduled for Friday, September 28th.

We NEED Art Docent Volunteers for the following grades: K (new teacher), 4th (Newby), 5th (Wilson) and 6th (Wood)

* No experience necessary; training provided 
* Each project comes with a list of things you can tell the students about the artist and examples of their work of art. 
* All suggested projects have been classroom tested and come with a list of supplies and tips on getting the most from the project.

Reflections 2018-19 Theme
Next year marks the 50th anniversary of the Reflections program. The 2018-19 theme is "Heroes Around Me"
Reflection Workshops - Mark your calendar for 10/17 and 11/7 before school workshops in room A3, more details to come. All student entries are due by November 21, 2018.
